Ouch! “Grand Slam” took on a whole new meaning today as the pro men’s singles competition commenced in Mesa, Arizona. The PPA’s Facebook page shared a few photos of #1 seed Ben Johns on the sidelines after getting hit in the face by Jay Devilliers. Ben brushed it off and showed off the bloody towel he used to mop up. He’s a pro through and through!

We’re not sure where Ben was hit exactly. From The Dink Pickleball’s Facebook livestream of the match, it looks like Ben got smacked in the nose and possibly his left eye. Check out the match here (the grand slam shot occurs at 20:36).
