The planned indoor pickleball facility located at the former Stein Mart retail outlet is “on hold,” according to Courtside Superstores president Brett Thomas. Thomas did not respond to a question from Dinkheads as to why his plans have changed.
The website of Courtsides Superstores no longer lists Colorado Springs as a location for one of its planned facilities.
A Facebook user posted a photo of the storefront showing that signs advertising an indoor pickleball facility have been removed:

Dinkheads is skeptical that a large, stand-alone multi-court indoor facility will ever be successful in Colorado Springs. The Springs is blessed with excellent weather throughout most of the year and has dozens of outdoor, free public courts where waiting times are short. The vast majority of players are not going to pay to play indoors if they can play for free outside in lovely weather. There may be demand for indoor facilities in January and February, but we believe such demand would decline precipitously in the late spring, summer, and fall.
